Kart Racing
MPH started Kart Racing in 2007, with the then 14 year old Travis Macdonald. The thought was that the summer karting would help and keep Travis's driving skills sharp for the winter of sled competitions.
At the local kart track in Gimli, Manitoba, while watching her older brother race, 13 year old Shelbie thought it looked pretty interesting and she was soon behind the wheel. Both she and Travis were constantly at the front of the pack. It didnt take long to realize that both of the kids had a knack for driving and as they got more experience Jeff and Mandy started hauling them across Canada to compete. Whether in Chilliwack BC, Mount Tremblant, Quebec, Calgary Alberta, Martinsville Saskatchewan or at the home track in Gimli Manitoba, Shelbie and Travis were having a blast, the only problem was, Travis seemed to be just ahead of his sister.
Shelbie ran an Arrow kart with a 6.5 hp Honda engine and for the last 2 years has run an Arrow kart with 125 Rotox. This coming summer, Shelbie is unsure if she will compete.
Travis has run an Arrow with a 6.5 Honda engine and also an Arrow kart with a 125 Rotox for 4 years and last year added a third kart, an Ital kart with a 125 Rotox shifter DD II, which runs at the National Events.
Travis's goal this year, is to win a Canadian National event and then get to represent Canada at the Karting World Championships in Dubai.
